The Kansas City Chiefs have made a major move to bolster their offensive line, agreeing to terms on a four-year, $80 million deal with Jawaan Taylor. Sources close to the situation report that the contract includes $60 million in guaranteed money, making Taylor one of the highest-paid offensive tackles in the league.

While it remains to be seen exactly where Taylor will play on the Chiefs' line, the team could be in need of a new left tackle if Orlando Brown Jr. does not re-sign. Regardless of where he lines up, Taylor is sure to provide a significant upgrade to Kansas City's pass protection and run blocking.

Taylor, who is just 25 years old, enjoyed a breakout season in 2022 as the Jacksonville Jaguars' most consistent offensive lineman. This marked improvement coincided with the arrival of new offensive line coach Phil Rauscher, who helped Taylor develop his technique and refine his skills.

Over the past few seasons, Taylor has steadily improved his pass blocking, going from the 56th-best pass block win rate among offensive tackles from 2019 to 2021 (84.5%) to the 37th-best in 2022 (88.8%). At 6-foot-5 and 312 pounds, he has the size and strength to handle both speed rushers and power rushers on the interior.

Despite facing stiff competition for his starting job in 2022, Taylor managed to hold off second-round pick Walker Little and start all 17 games for the Jaguars. He has not missed a game since being drafted 35th overall in 2019, and his durability and consistency make him a valuable asset to any team.

With this signing, the Chiefs have taken a major step towards shoring up their offensive line and protecting star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Jawaan Taylor is sure to make an immediate impact for Kansas City, and fans should be excited to see what he can bring to the team in the coming seasons.
